But I want nothing this society's got …

london 001

I’m working on building up my sketching time and worked on some quick sketches and photo’s from  London a couple of months back.  I’m struggling to find some theme to my work, any ideas peeps???

I understand completely what you mean about a theme - for a long long time I felt I lacked identity as an artist. What I found was that my themes found me - in fact they were there all the time, I just didn't see them! Try asking yourself: What are you drawn to? What do you most want to draw? What books do you read? Films do you watch? Do these have anything in common? What sort of art do you like to look at? What really moves you?

Look through old sketchbooks if you keep them - there will be clues there too.

If you looked through mine you'd see I was obsessed by people (I always have been - my background is in sociology and psychology ) and narrative images (I'm equally obsessed by story, always have been and am also a storyteller). Similarly I like biopics and films and books with quest themes...

Great drawing!
