He loves me, he loves me not ...

This is my daughters painting. She's nine and wanted to do something big. I bought her a canvas 24" x 24" and sat with her and talked as she painted. I promise I had nothing to do with her choice of content the text she put on it or what she wanted to achieve. How proud can a dad be?

What can I say that hasn't been said above? You are blessed and so is she. Comp and colours are perfect regardless of the artist's age but the age does make it remarkable.

This painting is full of such sweetness and energy... I love the little quote in the border and the detail work around the center of the flower is awesome! Beth, you ROCK! A big WOOHOO for you from the deserts of Arizona!

Beth! Please have Dad by you some more canvas and large sketch book -- 11"x14", for you to develop your choices of paintings. It is just great! So, glad you had such a wonderful afternoon together.
I am sure you are now 10' taller Steve.

Very well done. Congrats to you Beth for working on such a large canvas and of course to your dad for being so wonderful to talk with you and support you as you make art. If only I could be nine again and begin painting at that age (I'm 40 btw :))

Beth - that's absolutely stunning! I love the way you've captured the lighting on the petals and you're getting quite a fanbase on here! Your dad will be getting worried that you're going to nick all his commissions. :)

Looking forward to seeing some more of your stuff on here - keep at it!

Hey, this is super proud dad, can I thank you all so much from my heart for all the warm and positive feedback you gave. Your comments have had a wonderful effect on a very excited and energised daughter who has read them all with awe, checked all your sites and ready, over Christmas to set her own site up. I know she's in safe hands. I'm reminded of the time she learned to ride her bike, when is the right time to stop running alongside holding on to the seat?

Trish said...

OMG! Are you sure she is only nine? I have 50 yrs on her and she is way out of my league. wonderful job, and I hope she sticks with art.

Anita Davies said...

WOW!
She really does have talent there Stephen, such a good eye for composition, colour and values.

BRAVO BETH! Remarkable work!

I know this is an old post but I've only just seen it. Beth, this would be a wonderful painting from someone of any age but the fact that you're nine just goes to show how talented you are. I hope you go on to do a LOT more!
